Easy Chair Company, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire
We created a website for a Hertfordshire firm called The Easy Chair Company, a family business specialising in seating for customers with back problems, disabilities and mobility problems. We kept the site simple to use but visually attractive, with plenty of illustrations of the range of products. In between these illustrations we include plenty of links to a page about the firm’s free ‘choose at home’ service which is one of the points which distinguishes them from their competition. We also made sure to include a picture of the owners on the front page to put across the family image.
Barbados Sugarhill, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire
Another website for a Hertfordshire company which we worked on is a promotional site for a summer house in the Sugar Hill development in Barbados. Given the house is in such a beautiful location, we included dozens of photographs. We also framed the content of each page with a background image of a gorgeous blue sky and sea horizon. In keeping with the relaxed, no-hassle feel of the holiday home, we kept the site uncluttered while still getting across all the important information. Looking through the site is probably the nearest thing to the calm and tranquillity of actually staying at the house!
Floralwise, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire
We also produced the website for a Hertfordshire company, Floral Wise, which is the longest running florist in its home town of Hoddeson. The site strikes a balance between highlighting the prestige of being a member of the well-known Interflora system, while putting across the unique and personal service the shop offers. As you’d expect, we included plenty of pictures of the flowers but, rather than crowd the page and visually overwhelm visitors, we stuck to three fixed photos on each page and then added one space with a slideshow effect. This allows visitors to concentrate on one image at a time.
Norman J Shepherd Estate Agents, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire EN8
We’re also responsible for the website for the Hertfordshire firm Norman J Shepherd & Co, a family-run estate agent. As you’d expect, this was a slightly more complex job than many types of business because each ‘product’ is unique and the range of homes available is constantly changing. We created a design that allows the firm to regularly update their For Sale and To Let listings in a consistent and effective format. We also included a simple form for potential customers to register their interest without having to wait until they could get to the office.
Reg's Coaches, Welwyn, Hertfordshire
Another website for a Hertfordshire company in our portfolio is Reg’s Coaches. Because of the risk of this seeming like a very dry subject, we used an upbeat Flash design to put across that the firm offers a modern service that’s fun while still being efficient. Rather than clutter up the page, we picked a compact format that keeps all the necessary information, such as contact details, regular schedules and a diary of tourist excursions, easily at hand. We also created a contact form so that customers can easily contact the firm, but there’s no risk of ‘spam-bots’ exploiting a link to the firm’s e-mail address and flooding its inbox.
