Online Marketing
As well as SEO, there are many other forms of marketing and advertising available on the internet now. The main variants are cost-per-click (CPC) advertising, Social Media Marketing (SMM). Both can be very effective as a stand-alone solution, however when used together and in conjunction with a fully-planned SEO campagin.
Cost-per-Click Advertising from 1p per click
Cost-per-Click advertising is an extremely poweful tool to increase the exposure of your company's website. The ad can be displayed thousands of internet users, but you only pay when people click on the ad to be taken to your site. Most CPC advertisers allow you to construct the ad yourself, which EQ can do on your behalf, and allow you to target only your key demographics. The most popular CPC provider is Google Adwords. When you perform a Google search, the first three to five results, in the coloured box, are the CPC results. These are the people bidding the highest amount per click will be displayed on the first page, with the companies paying less subsequently being displayed on lower pages. The cost of each click is dependent on the competition, for example a plumber could pay upwards of £3-per-click, whereas a monkey butler, would pay considerably less per click.
Social Media Marketing (SMM)
Social Media websites, such as Facebook and Twitter have become massively popular, with more than 1,145,000,000 users between them (as of December 2011). With social media smartphone integration alongside the advent of mobile data technology, such as GPRS, EDGE, and HSDPA, not to mention the growing use of WiFi Networks, the sharing of ideas and data has become instantaneous and extremely popular. Social media marketing offers the potential for exponential growth: if one person likes your company's page, this will be seen by all of that person's friends, if any of their friends like the page, it will be displayed to each of their friends, and cascades down. We can also set up CPC accounts on Facebook, for example, we have recently created a Facebook advertising campaign for a nightclub, targetting to 21 to 25 year olds within a 10 mile radius and have created an automated service for a local estate agent that tweets every time a new property is uploaded.
